Animal Health Technology Program (on campus) - 2 Year Diploma:
Welcome to the world of Animal Health Technology. Our two year on campus career tech program offers a very high level of technical training in the field of animal care. Competition for admission is intense. The job market is varied and abundant. Potentional employers include private veterinary clinics, research facilities, zoos and aquariums, pharmaceutical companies, and animal humane shelters to mention just a few.
Animal Health Technology Distance Education Program - 3 Year Diploma:
TRU now offers the only AHT Distance Education program in Canada where the student can study and complete their education from anywhere in Canada. There are no on campus requirements. The student must be a paid employee working in a Canadian veterinary clinic a minimum of 20 hours per week while enrolled in the program.
Animal Welfare Certificate Distance Program:
The Animal Welfare Certificate is a distance studies program for animal care givers who are interested in upgrading their work skills or for individuals interested in a career in Animal Welfare. The Animal Welfare Certificate Program has been jointly developed by Thompson Rivers University (TRU), and the BC Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BC SPCA).

Career Opportunities
The rapid expansion of the livestock and animal health industry in Saskatchewan and elsewhere means an increasing need for scientists and professionals who can guide the industry's development.
Opportunities for Animal Science graduates are wide-ranging. In government positions, graduates can help set government policies or work directly in research. Other employment can be found with feed manufacturers, animal breeding companies, pharmaceutical companies, consulting firms, universities, as well as in primary production or in the growing agricultural biotechnology industry. CAREER OPPORTUNITIES IN IPM:
People with IPM training are needed by the horticulture industry to identify and assess pest problems, and help to recommend and help to implement management programs. Career opportunities in IPM for qualified applicants are expected to increase over the next several years.
Graduates may find work as IPM field scouts in nurseries, greenhouses, or for field crop and/or orchard operations. Graduates may work directly for growers, for IPM consulting firms, or as technicians in various government research programs.
